Kurt Sutter As Otto Delaney

This week I thought it would be a great idea to make a post about the man behind the creation of Sons of Anarchy. If it weren't for Kurt Sutter, there would be no Sons of Anarchy. For those of you who do not know, Kurt Sutter also portrays Otto Delaney in SOA, and he is married to Katey Sagal (Gemma Teller) in real life. The two have three children together.
stock photo : LOS ANGELES - JUNE 9: Katey Sagal, Kurt Sutter at the 11th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball held at a private residence on June 9, 2012 in Los Angeles, CaliforniaBesides portraying Otto, Kurt writes, directs, and produces for Sons of Anarchy. As a young kid he did not do well in school and came from a broken family. After watching lots of television and exploring his imagination he discovered his ability to come up with creative ideas for stories.
Relating to last weeks post, Sutter uses his resources well by having technical advisors such as David LaBrava help out with the show. Along with this Sutter also took some time to interact with an outlaw club in California as research for his writing for Sons of Anarchy. This all proved successful as the show is a hit.
Sons of Anarchy is currently on its fifth season. The show is so successful that FX recently signed a three year deal to continue playing Sons of Anarchy and create other projects with Sutter in the process. Some of his hobbies include playing video games and oddly birds, which probably makes you think of Gemma's bird obsession in the show just like I did.

Check out my David LaBrava post and Gemma Teller post as well!

Sons of Anarchy Actor David LaBrava as Happy

stock photo : LOS ANGELES - SEP 8: David Labrava arrives at the "Sons of Anarchy" Season 5 Premiere Screening at Village Theater on September 8, 2012 in Westwood, CALet me start by introducing you to the interesting actor who portrays Happy. David LaBrava fits right in to Sons Of Anarchy quite well. Originally hired to be a tech manager, LaBrava ended up behind the camera acting after meeting with Kurt Sutter, the wrtier of Sons of Anarchy. Besides acting, LaBrava often helps with writing the show, he  as also been tattooing for over twenty years and owns his own tattoo shop. He recently created a clothing line which profits contribute to animal rescue, and he has created his own film company. Labrava is perfect for the show as both a contributing writer, tech manager, and actor because he is a five diploma Harley Davidson mechanic and has had cars and bikes he has built feature in magazines. To add to all this, Labrava is also a member of the Hells Angels, so he knows the ins and outs of a real motorcycle 'club'.

LaBrava's character, nick named Happy, is the Sons executor. Although his name is Happy, he never is. He does hits for the group and takes out rivals when necessary. It is shown through the show that Happy actually enjoys his job and keeps a count of all his hits by getting a smile face tattoo after every hit, hence the nickname Happy. Throughout the seasons we see that nothing disturbs Happy, often times he will be the only one in the group not to cringe in some instances.

Check out this funny video of the cast talking about LaBrava.

Juice Ortiz of Sons of Anarchy

stock photo : LOS ANGELES - SEP 8: Theo Rossi arrives at the "Sons of Anarchy" Season 5 Premiere Screening at Village Theater on September 8, 2012 in Westwood, CAPortrayed by Theo Rossi, Juice Ortiz is the 'techy' member of the Sons of Anarchy crew. Often nicknamed Juicey Boy by chibs, Ortiz specializes in hacking and manages the clubhouses many video surveillance's. We often see him giving the Sons of Anarchy crew a heads up when the police are entering their property.
In the first few seasons of Sons of Anarchy Juice Ortiz didn't have the involvement in the group like he does now in later seasons. This is mostly due to the fact that he was one of the newer members of the group and needed to prove his trust and involvement with the rest of the Sons. Juice is so loyal to the group that he often finds himself at conflict. We witness this during season four. Juice was always expressive of his claimed Puerto Rican roots. During this time in season four it is discovered by a cop that Juice's real father is actually African-American. Out to get the Sons, the cop threatens to release this information to the group in hopes to turn Juice into his rat in order to expose the deep dark secrets of the Sons of Anarchy. With all this and other stresses of current happenings and bad deals in season four Juice attempts to commit suicide by hanging himself from a tree. This attempt failed due to the tree branch breaking and Chibs shows up and finds Juice flustered. Later, Chibs confronts Juice about his change in attitude. Juice, realising Chibs concern, confides in Chibs and tells him everything. Chibs comforts Juice and assures him that the group would never view him differently and that they all love him.
To see how Juice Ortiz is doing now you need to tune into FX every Tuesday night!

Chibs Telford

stock photo : LOS ANGELES - SEP 8: Tommy Flanagan arrives at the "Sons of Anarchy" Season 5 Premiere Screening at Village Theater on September 8, 2012 in Westwood, CAActor Tommy Flanagan portrays everyone's favourite Scotsman of the group, Chibs Telford. We learned early in the show that Chibs got his nickname after receiving his facial scar from a rival, Jimmy O. After doing a little bit of research I discovered that the actors scars are actually real. Tommy was working as a DJ at a nightclub before he started his acting career. That is when he received the scars from an altercation outside the nightclub he was working at. He was leaving the night club to go home when a robber attacked him and left him with a 'Glasgow smile' on his face.

Most of the members of Sons of Anarchy group are American, but Chibs was born in Scotland and raised in Ireland, eventually joining the SAMBEL chapter in Ireland. He eventually was received in the Sons of Anarchy Motor Club chapter based in Charming, California. It's in Charming when we see Chibs become very close to Jax and very supportive of Jax when he became president of the club. We also witness how warming and fatherly like Chisb was to Juice when Juice was dealing with his personal issues in season four.

Just like many of the other characters in the show, Chibs has escaped death a few times. He spent half of season two in a hospital bed after a sever explosion that was set up against the group during a 'business deal'. It's during this time that we learn more about Chibs and his life he left back home. We are introduced to his wife Fiona and their daughter Kerrianne.

Throughout the rest of the show his character is pretty quiet. Besides being supportive of Jax, Chibs is seen throughout the whole series being a mentor to many of the characters. He is often compassionate to his close friends. When half-sack was learning to box to raise money for the club Chibs was there to help him train and learn.

Clay Morrow

You may recognize Ron Perlman from some big name movies, but in Sons of Anarchy he is seen as the selfish president of Samcrow who eventually lets his selfishness get the best of him.

Clay Morrow- Sons of Anarchy In the beginning the show Clay Morrow was seen as a somewhat like-able character who spoke highly of his old friend John Teller. But as the show progresses Clay's true personality comes out under certain stress and pressures. We witness Clay turn from a loving  husband of Gemma, to an abusive bully of Gemma. We see Clay's character turn twisted when Tig shares with Clay his suspicions of a betrayal by Opie. Clay and Tig decide to look into the matter and Tig discovers hidden microphones in Opie's truck and cell phone. Tig assumes Opie is working against the club for ATF now and immediately shares this news with Clay, who then instructs Tig to kill Opie. The night Tig follows Opie, Tig doesn't realize that Opie switched vehicles with his wife, and Tig ends up killing Opie's wife thinking it was him driving the truck. Once Clay is informed he hides this information and assures Opie they will find out who murdered his wife. Opie was devastated with the murder of his wife and we see Clay and Tig having a hard time with this. But did this change Clays mischievous ways? No. Later in the series we witness Clay morphing into an evil leader. After beating Gemma, members of the group start to question Clays authority of the group and start vouching for Jax to be the new president. Besides putting a hit on Tara for "knowing too much" about the club, Clay eventually ends up killing Piney in a cold blooded betrayal after secrets from the past are close to revealing Clay's true nature. Once Opie finds out Clay cowardly murdered his father, he also learns the truth about Donna and seeks revenge but is later talked out of it by Jax. Soon Clay's true nature is revealed to Jax in letters that Gemma gave to him from Maureen Ashby . The letters confirmed the truth about John Tellers death, which resulted in Jax swearing that he will kill Clay.

Gemma Teller-Morrow

As portrayed by Katey Sagal, Gemma is seen as an extremely protective, sometimes stubborn, tough cookie. She is very loyal to her loved ones and will do anything to protect them. Throughout the show we witness how protective Gemma is of Jax, and how that sometimes conflicts with her admiration of Clay as the two loves of her life often don't see eye to eye.
Gemma Teller (aka Katey Sagal) Gemma's stubbornness got the best of her in season two when a rival gang member constructs a  kidnapping and gang rape of Gemma in order to send a message to Clay. Gemma is in constant strife now because she knows that if she sends this message, Clay will retaliate, but that was what they wanted so she keeps quite about the rape, resulting in several psychological issues for Gemma. Eventually she fesses up to Clay and Jax about the events that took place, and the two worked together to resolve the current issues. Later in season three, Gemma finds herself on the run after being set up for a murder that she didn't commit, due to a by a crooked ATF agent who is constantly out to get the club. Struggling with the fact of being away from her family, Gemma plans to meet with the ATF agent to turn herself in on a bargain deal. Unfortunately things didn't work out well for Gemma as she discovers while being away her grandson was kidnapped. After finding this out, Gemmas heart goes on her and she ends up in a hospital which wasn't the 'deal' the ATF agent agreed upon. Eventually Jax works out a secret deal with the ATF agent and Gemma is eventually a free woman again. Gemma often finds herself in between two choices or situations throughout the show. As a viewer we see how her tough attitude and loyalty to those she loves becomes a strength for her in making decisions, but is also often a weakness for her as others use these attributes to manipulate her. In the end Gemma always pulls through, as she has been in the club for a long time and has thick skin.

Opie Winston

After watching this weeks episode I figured it would be fitting to have the character of the week be Opie. Anyone who has been following the show knows that Opie died a hero, and last weeks episode was a tear jerker. Here's a clip of the emotional episode:

As portrayed by Ryan Hurst, Harry Winston, or 'Opie' for short, is the son of Piney, whom is one of the original nine members. Growing up, Opie was always very close to Jax. The two are seen as brothers in the show and often confront each other for advice with their issues, which is rarely seen between any members of the club. This just goes to show how close the two are.

In the beginning of the show, Opie is portrayed as a loving husband and father of Donna and his two children. He is often conflicted as Donna wants him to leave the club, but the club is all he's known his whole life. After Opie's car and phone is wired by ATF without him knowing, Clay suspects that Opie has turned into a rat. He sets out a hit on Opie but sadly, Donna ends up dead as she was driving Opies truck the night of the hit.

Opie is extremely depressed with Donna's death, he becomes distant and lives at the clubhouse since he can't face his children. While at the clubhouse Opie meets a porn star, Lyla, who is hired by the clubs porn business. Opie falls in love with Lyla and wishes for her to leave the porn business, he attempts to get her pregnant. To her surprise, Lyla does get pregnant. She has a secret abortion so that she can continue to keep working. Eventually Opie and Lyla get married, but Lyla continues in the porn business and confesses her abortion to Opie. Opie is frustrated even more when he finds Lyla's birth control pills hidden in her dressing room.

Opie ends up cheating on Lyla with another porn star hired by the club. This results in Jax giving Opie a piece of his mind. Things continue to be shaky between Lyla and Opie. They begin living seperatly and have minimal communication.

The situation gets worse for Opie as he soon finds out that Clay killed his father and that his wife's death was
also due to actions set by Clay. Fueled with anger, he seeks revenge. He finds Clay in the clubhouse and Jax
attempts to talk Opie out of shooting Clay, but Opie shoots him twice in the chest, resulting in Jax shooting
Opie in the hand. The group covers the shooting as retaliation from another club hit. Opie feels betrayed by Jax, and does not show up for Jax's announcement of becoming the new president of the club. He is often missing from club meetings and goes into hiding on his own.

What are your thoughts on Opie? Do you think it was a mistake to kill his character off?

R.I.P Johnny Lewis

Johnny Lewis played the loveable prospect, 'half-sack' on Sons of Anarchy during season one and two. Sadly his character was murdered in the end of season two, leaving season three to premier with his funeral.

What happened to Johnny Lewis after his SOA acting? Well, according to his IMBD profile he has completed filming for a new movie, which sadly, will be the last of his career.

Lewis has died at the young age of 28. It has be learned that before his death Lewis had several runs ins with the law due to violent crimes It is reported that the actor appeared to be under the influence of some substance at the time of his death, some are suspecting Meth or PCP as he had 'super-human' strength when others tried to tame him. It is said that he murdered his land lord, an elderly lady in her eighties, along with her cat. Moments later he fell to his own death in attempt to run away.

Sadly it is known that Lewis was up to no good in recent times. Kurt Sutter made an announcement
that made it clear that he was not surprised by the disturbing events that took place.

R.I.P Johnny Lewis and Catherine Davis.

The Dreaded Death

As I mentioned before in one of my previous blogs, it was confirmed by Kurt Sutter (one of the main writers of the show) late last week, that one of the main characters near and dear to our hearts would end up dead in this past Tuesdays episode of Sons of Anarchy.

If you haven't watched any of season five yet, your in for quite a ride. Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, well spoiler alert, they do!

But seriously, SPOILER ALERT!! If you don't want me to ruin anything for you that you haven't seen yet don't read on! You've been warned! If you would like to know what I'm referring to than please watch the video below. Head's up though, if you have a sensitive stomach it's a tid bit graphic.

I've come to have a love hate relationship with Tuesdays now. I'm sure many of you reading this share that same feeling with me. I get to watch this amazing show, yet deep down I know this season brings much tragedy. If there has been this much in the first three episodes I can't bear in mind what the rest of season five has up it's sleeves.

Let me say, I'm shocked but not surprised by the death of Opie. It was sad that he died, but like many others, I feel that his death was of a heroic fashion

I would love to hear from all of you though. What are your thoughts on the episode? And how are you liking season five so far? And on that note I will end today's blog with this: R.I.P Opie

Tara Knowles

We know from my previous blogs that Tara is Jax's fiancee. But how exactly does she fit in to Samcro?

Tara and Jax dated in their high school years. Extremely close to Jax, Tara showed her support of Samcro by getting a Samcro related tattoo on her back. In the first few episodes of the show we learn that Tara
eventually left Jax to pursue her medical education in San Diego, later to do an internship in Chicago. This
hurt Jax as he loved Tara. Gemma did not like how Tara up and left Jax, so she ends up holding
a grudge towards Tara. Eventually Tara comes back to Charming as a surgeon. This is when she is
introduced in the show and we learn what really happened while she was gone.

During her time away from Charming, Tara ended up dating an ATF agent, eventually getting pregnant.
She is concerned by his obsessive and abusive behaviour, and has an abortion. She heads back to Charming to get away. Tara had filed a restraining order against the agent but he continued stalking her. One night he ends up in her house and attempts to rape her. Tara goes along with it in order to retrieve his gun, once she gets a hold of the gun she shoots him in the stomach and calls Jax for help. When Jax shows up he is so disgusted that he shoots the agent in the head and disposes of his body.

Throughout the rest of the show we see Tara trying to prove herself to all of Samcro, especially Gemma. Tara often becomes the emergency medical help when member of the club are injured during shoot outs. Gemma eventually see's that Jax and Tara are still in love, and are working towards a long term relationship.
Gemma sees this as a good thing and warms up to Tara by teaching her the ins and outs of being an 'Old-lady'.

Later we learn that Gemma and Tara have different ideas for Jax's future. Now that Tara has given birth to
Jax's second son and is engaged to Jax, Jax promises Tara he will leave the club soon, but Gemma has been
prepping Jax to take over the club as Clays health diminishes.

What does the future hold? Well, you'll have to watch season 5 to find out!

Irish Theme Song

Hello Everyone,
An anonymous commenter remined me of the Irish theme song that was used in season three.
Here is a clip from YouTube with the song.
Enjoy!

Theme Song

Here's a link to a youtube clip of the song that plays in the begining of the show.
Fun fact: While watching the dvd's if you speed up the into the song speeds up perfectly and adds a more chipper folk sound to it. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Season Five

With season five here ready to air episode three this Tuesday, I'm curious to know what other people's thoughts are about the new season so far?

It was confirmed through Kurt Sutter's Twitter account that a main character will be killed off this week. I have a few suspected characters of who it might be, but I'd love to hear what you all think.

Also, what is everyone's thoughts on the up-comming guest appearance of Ashley Tisdale? I've read other blogs online and a lot of people have voiced that they aren't too thrilled about this. I wasn't too keen on the choice at first but I must say I have faith that this will work out for the show. It has been this good so far so I don't question any of their choices.

To keep up do date about the show you guys should all follow Kurt Sutter on twitter here!
Another good follow related to the show is Kelli Jones . She's the costume designer for 'Sons of Anarchy'. Both are a bit cheeky at times, but in a good way and well worth the follow. You guys won't be disappointed.

Leave a comment and let me know what you guys think about season five so far!

Cheers!

Charlie Hunnam as Jackson 'Jax' Teller

Allow me to introduce you to the main character of ‘Sons of Anarchy’. Portrayed by Charlie Hunnam, Jackson 'Jax' Teller is the son of Gemma Teller Morrow and John Teller.

After watching the first four seasons of SOA we learn that Jax recently divorced his wife Wendy, whom is pregnant with Jax's first child. In the opening of the season we see Wendy, an ex 'junkie', has relapsed and is found unconscious. Once she is found she is rushed to the hospital for an emergency C-section resulting in baby Abel being born two weeks premature. Jax soon finds out that the baby will need emergency heart surgery as he has conceived the genetic heart condition that runs through the family. The surgeon who will perform the surgery is coincidentally Jax's first love Tara. She requested to do the surgery. The baby was expected that the baby had minimal chance of surviving the surgery, but the baby pulled through.

Jax is first seen as preventing any emotional bond with the baby as he is unsure of its survival after the surgery. Tara’s relationship with members of the club is seen as a bit uneasy due to occurrences in the past but Tara is eventually accepted by the rest of the clubs members. In time Jax and Tara bond over baby Abel end up back together and raise Abel as a family.

As Jax continues reading the journals that his father left for him, he discovers that the true nature of the club was to create a brother hood among the men. As the show progresses we see how John Tellers plan for the club was demolished after his tragic, and soon discovered, suspicious death. Jax finds it in his heart to change the club back to what it was truly meant for, even if that means choosing between his new family and the club.

This Video pretty much sums up Jax Teller.

Samcro Explained

You may be pondering the thought, 'What is Samcro?'. Well, ponder no more and allow me to explain what Samcro stands for, how it all began, and its current status today as seen in 'Sons of Anarchy'.

Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original, or 'Samcro' for short, is a fictional biker club established in 1967 by two Vietnam war veterans, John Teller and Piney Winston. According to the television show, 'Sons of Anarchy', nine members formed the club in the fictional town of Charming, California.

John Teller, the clubs president, eventually married his 'old lady' Gemma Teller. A few years later Gemma gave birth to two sons, one of which died at a young age due to a genetic heart condition conceived from Gemma. Sadly, John Teller died in a freak accident and Gemma later re-married to Johns close friend, Clay Morrow, whom now is the current president of Sons of Anarchy. Gemma's oldest son, Jackson 'Jax' Teller, is the main character seen throughout the show. Now in his adult-hood  Jax, the VP, is constantly conflicting with his step-father Clay.
